Ultra-rare footage of Chris Farlowe on UK TV Programme, Gastank, from 1983. Featuring Alvin Lee, Rick Wakeman & Tony Ashton. We zullen het zeker op 5 april met hem spelen.

Chris Farlowe needs no introduction, his classic number one ‘OUT OF TIME' was written for him by MICK JAGGER and KEITH RICHARDS and is still high on radio playlists.

His first band was the JOHN HENRY SKIFFLE GROUP; this eventually became CHRIS FARLOWE AND THE THUNDERBIRDS, deriving his name from guitarist Tal Farlow and his love for the American Thunderbird car. This early band featured future rock giants DAVE  GREENSLADE, CARL PALMER AND ALBERT LEE.

At the end of the sixties Chris joined forces with PAUL BUCKMASTER to form THE HILL who recorded one album. After this project folded Dave Greenslade invited him to join COLOSSEUM for whom he was to record two albums before the band split. He was immediately asked to join ATOMIC ROOSTER by the late VINCENT CRANE where he was once again united with Carl Palmer. This was not to be a happy liaison for Chris although he did record two albums with them.

In 1975 he formed a new THUNDERBIRDS again with Albert Lee to do an UK tour, two of the shows were recorded and released as a live album. Chris then retired from the business for a while until a chance meeting with MIKE VERNON produced two albums in 1985 and 1986. Then old friend JIMMY PAGE invited Chris to sing three tracks on his solo album ‘OUTRIDER’. Chris had previously worked with Jimmy on the soundtrack to the film DEATH WISH2.

Chris has since toured the UK, Germany and Spain with his own band as well as performing with PETE YORK and DEEP PURPLES members JON LORD and IAN PAICE.

His album ‘WAITING IN THE WINGS’ was released in 1993 to high critical acclaim. This album featured the talents of MICKY MOODY, LEO LYONS, ALVIN LEE, BOZ BURRELL AND ALBERT LEE.

Following the album release Chris toured the UK with ex STONE THE CROWS vocalist MAGGIE BELL during which they played to enthusiastic sell out crowds.

In 1995 Chris recorded an album of his favourite late night Jazz tunes ‘AS TIME GOES BY’. He also underwent a major European tour with the reformed COLOSSEUM featuring the classic line up of FARLOWE/ JON HISEMAN/ MARK CLARKE/ DAVE GREENSLADE/ DICK HECKSTALL-SMITH and CLEM CLEMPSON. A live album by Colosseum was released and it was like the band had never been away.

In September of 1995 Chris recorded a live album entitled ‘LONESOME ROAD’ with the NORMAN BEAKER BAND who have also worked with such luminaries as JACK BRUCE, RUBY TURNER and ALEXIS KORNER.

In 1997 OUT OF TIME PRODUCTIONS LTD re-released his albums FROM HERE TO MAMA ROSA and CHRIS FARLOWE BAND LIVE, recorded on the 1975 tour with Albert Lee. BORN AGAIN, OUT OF THE BLUE and WAITING IN THE WINGS will also see re-releases this year.

1997 also saw the recording and release of a brand new COLOSSEUM studio album ‘BREAD AND CIRCUSES’. Reviews were ecstatic and once again they played to sell out crowds all over Europe.

‘THE VOICE’, produced by Clem Clempson who also played guitar, was released in 1998. The album features contributions from Ricky Byrd, ex Joan Jett guitarist who also wrote two songs for Chris, Norman Beaker from the regular tour band and the legendary Chanter Sisters amongst others.

Chris and the band featuring Norman Beaker, John Price, Dave Baldwin and Paul Burgess undertook a 35-date tour of Europe at the end of 1998. Despite breaking a leg and two ribs during the early stages Chris soldiered on in the time honoured tradition of the show must go on to complete the highly successful tour.

Chris played a forty-date theatre tour of the UK at the end of 1999 with The Manfreds, Colin Blunstone and Alan Price. It was the largest he has undertaken in this country for many years and should help to re-establish him as a major talent. He also played a number of dates supporting Van Morrison who he also joined on stage to sing a few duets.

A new studio album ‘Farlowe That!’ was released in 2003 featuring a duet with Van Morrison on ‘Sitting On Top Of The World’ a song written by Van. A live album recorded mostly in Hungary titled ‘Hungary For the Blues’ was released recently and he toured extensively in 2006 to celebrate his 50 years in the music business including an appearance in Germany on ROCKPALAST, which has now been released on DVD.

In October 2006 Chris was given a Gold Badge Award by the British Association of Songwriters and Composers which was presented at the Savoy Hotel in London.

2007 saw Chris tour extensively with Colosseum and he is currently recording his new album for release in 2008
